1. What did you contribute to your team?
I help with building the structure of tower and pass the materials that are needed to the team member who use them.
2. What do you think engineers have to consider when they suggest which materials would be best for a certain structure?
They have to consider safety problems because if the material is not good then it can cause danger, so questions like whether the material can withstand a certain amount of force, if the material can take on high temperature and environmental changes.
3. What forces cause the tower to tip over?
Wind. The tower will also tip over when the structure is weak so it cannot withstand the weight on the top.
4. What features of the design helped your tower to reach new heights?
The triangular structure, triangle is the strongest structure for our tower and it allowed us to build it higher.
5. After testing what changes did you make to your tower?
We decided to make it shorter, because the tower was too weak to be very high.
6. Engineers early ideas rarely work out perfectly, How does testing help improve your design?
Engineers build proto types so they can test on. This helps the engineer to find out the problem with it and make it better. So they can improve and find out problems at the same time. If the Engineer work the final design in one try, then they may face problems that they have to work out.
7. What did you learn from watching others?
I learned that everybody have different ideas about building the tower, and collaborating is important for us to build the best tower.
